Sorry

Yes folks, that's MY palm tree in the front garden.

I was planning another angst-laden, sarcastic and cutting post on whatever topic set me off today, but it's just too bloody nice.

After a breakfast based on menu B (I've run out of black pudding) I spent the day lounging on the garden swing, sipping a nice chilled Pinot Gris from Otago.

Like yesterday, but sunnier and much warmer.
Here's the view from our rear (upper) deck.

and this one.

You can click on the images to see them full size.

Please note the trampoline.  It make an ideal bed for cloud gazing.

And we've still got the whole summer to look forward to.

Enjoy your snow, sleet and rain.

No...It's too nice to be mean.

I hope you all have an absolutely lovely day.

SMILE

    1. Which one?

      The swing?
      The palm tree?
The view over the house to the valley?
      Tha smiling baby?

    2. It stinks cos I don't have it :-)

I don't know why you can't leave replies. That's a strange one. Sometimes I have problems but overcome it by refreshing the page and being persistent with the reply button. I know that google are continuously making it difficult to use blogger unless you have a google based engine. I had to change to Chome as it was becoming increasingly difficult to use Explorer and a lot of the functions stopped working. Obviously google formats work better with google products? I'm glad I changed, I really like Chrome.

      Just a thought.

PS - your view is spectacular, not a bad place to be at all - enjoy every moment my friend.

    3. Thanks for the idea Di, I'll try it in Firefox and see what happens.

I'm not too keen on Chrome, because I think it changes a lot behind the front page, and I like to be in complete control...Always.

Probably why I enjoy teaching so much.

The view s quite nice, and seeing as today is even better, I'm heading out to the swing now, with a new Ebook and a small, but refillable libation.

      Have a nice day.

  3. Such a lovely country you have there, we've been considering embracing NZ as our 7th state. (also thinking of sinking Tasmania)
You're getting new neighbours mate, light that BBQ

    1. I would have said you're bonkers, but we just heard that the NZ National Bank is now becoming the Australian National Bank, so it could be you're right, and are secretly buying up our small yet perfectly formed country by bits and pieces.

      You bring the beer. OK?

    2. Ah, beer! Australia makes the best beer in the world.. not Fosters (ladies beer) nor any of the other trendy beers..Real beer like Coopers.
We dont need to buy up NZ, we have all your young people over here (backpackers) and we're not giving them back until you join us...so there!

    1. *Giggle*

Well done TUB, it's not often a comment can make a grown and deeply cynical man actually giggle.

It could be, I do agree, but I'm not to keen to perform in the open air, and the bouncines makes me a wee bit sea-sick.

Awesome. (To quote a well-used Kiwi term)

      Which part of the country?

    2. North Shore - Auckland. Her hubby grew up in Wellington

    3. I've never been to the North Shore, but I know Wellington really well.

The nicest place I've been so far in NZ was The Bay of Islands and Doubtless Bay.

      Sheer bloody paradise.
And the Fish and Chip shop in Mangonui is the best in the world.

    4. Our honeymoon was Bay of Islands - freak'n gorgeous turquoise green water. And yes, fish and chips are superb.

    5. Oh, you lucky person.

My own experience was based on Gairloch, in the North of Scotland.

If you can bare the pain, embarrasment and divulging of personal and itimate details, have a look at honeymoon (2) and honeymoon (3). I would skip The Wedding. unless you've got a large box of hankies immediately available.

    6. ah - will have to check it out! I've been wanting to visit Scotland - I love 'sideways' weather. You know the type that blows constantly ... sideways ... where it seems like it is raining up, down and sideways? Yes - welcome to the Oregon Coast (where I grew up)

    7. If you love "sideways" weather, you'll think Scotland is absolutely bloody idyllic.

    8. Oh my, this is why we eloped. Well that, how much money goes into one day and the fact that my mother went bat-shit crazy on my sister at her wedding. My sister planned her own wedding and mom arrives in NZ 2 weeks before the big day and starts bossing everyone around, and 'fixing' everything my sister had done wrong. I swore I wouldn't go through that. Instead we planned a honeymoon in NZ and Fiji ... then went up to CA wine country (where we were living at the time) and got married in an old inn by the JoP. 6 months later we threw a BBQ in Golden Gate park with a lively volleyball game. No one had to dress up. We're still married 20 years later.

I do want to see the Scottish highlands - and thank God for internet to attempt to check out the hotel.

    9. You eleoped?

      Brave.

      Aren't families wonderful?

Your wedding party sounds a lot better than mine.

The Scottish highlands are lovely, but look out for the midges.

    10. Brave? ducking my mother. Not so brave. her response when I told her that I was married? "oh well that's good." since I had been living with my then boyfriend. she had been calling weekly to find out if there might be an 'update' about my 'situation' ... no, not pregnant. We didn't have our first kid until our 5th wedding anniversary. But then that is another story, which is blog-worthy.

    11. You must have a very understanding Mum. Congratulations on waiting. If I remember, we waited 3½ years. I vaguely remember something to do with lots of wine, a very sexy dress and the stairs.

  7. Oh you poor, poor man. Forced to lie about drinking in the scenery and the wine. The horror. I am actually looking forward to fall and winter, but probably the second time I have to shovel the driveway, I'll be wishing I were on your deck.

    1. I already said I was sorry Alison.

I didn't really mean to rub it in.

Did I ention it's another bloody gorgeous day?

Temperature is a balmy 21ºC (70ºF), with a nice warm breeze.

I had to put sunblock on this morning, but I forgot to do my feet, so I've got a hint of pinkish pain on the tops of my feet (a danger of wearing sandals)

Enjoy the shovelling. I believe it builds character.

    1. Thank you Ali, I will. Even better the Pino Gris is made in NZ, and if I drive about 60km, I can be in the Wairarapa, where they grow their own Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir.

But I still miss a Cooperative Bakery Scotch Pie.
      *sigh*

    1. Absolutely correct Kelly, just in the same way that I'm not a cynic, I'm a realist.

My mantra may be different from yours.

      Mine goes:
"Shut up, sit down and do your work"
