Back to bed
It's the first day of the holidays.
I got up at my usual time of 5:30, and pottered about the house.
Checked for any leftovers on the stove (pot of curry had long gone) and had a couple of crackers and humus.
Sat down at the computer with a cup of coffee and responded to some blog comments, and read some posts.
And then:
Back to bed.
Snuggled up in the still-warm duvet and drifted off to a deep dark sleep.
No dreams, just a warm tranquil blankness.
Warm.
Excstatically comfortable.
Woke at 10:30.
Sometimes the simple pleasures are the best.
Think I'll have a snooze at lunchtime.
Stuff the Presbetyrian work ethic.
I'm for a really lazy day.

I'm in the wrong profession:(
ReplyDeleteNorthern Snippet; Yep, two weeks holidays every 10-11 weeks, plus 6 weeks at the end of each year; bliss.
ReplyDeleteTrying to control 30 hyperactive kids every hour of every day; not so bliss.
At least Yorkshire puddings don't shout at you, although the Chef is I think quite close in that psychology.
TSB: Your post today accurately describes what we teachers refer to as "Resting Recharging Recovery". A typical phenomonem of the first week of school holdiays. Also a different view on the 3 R's eh?. Enjoy your sleep ins. All teachers deserve them, along with their holidays and alcoholic beverages.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought the number of holidays given to teachers is an additional cruelty.
ReplyDeleteYou get enough holidays to ensure that you know what normal feels like, yet those holidays always come with the penalty of knowing you have to go back to work at the end of it all.
Somehow, in an odd way, that seems fitting.
Jealousy is a bitter thing........
lol.
Valley Girl:Resting, Recuperation, Renarcotilizing.
ReplyDeleteAlistair: You bastard. We don't want to think about "going back" *sob*
Speaking as a parent enduring Week 2 of 6 of the Scottish Holidays, I am as jealous as Jennifer Aniston is of Angelina Jolie. Oh for some long lie-ins! Oh for some days that don't begin with a chirpy 'Mum, you know on Minecraft....?' from the side of the bed at an ungodly hour
ReplyDelete*weeps quietly*
Back to bed? Get up, you lazy Scottish sod!
ReplyDeleteI've posted something to help him get up..... Oh oh, I'd better rephrase that....
ReplyDeleteAliX: Long lie-ins are a gift from Heaven, never to be taken lightly. BTW, My son, now 25, woke me up this morning at 5:40am, asking me to drive him into Wellington. Seemingly his wee car had gone a bit funny but he hadn't bothered telling me, so now he wanted me to get up and out of my lovely warm bed and drive him 20km into his work.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I laughed.
AJ: No.
TC: What? Oh, I've seen the picture. Thank you very much; lovely thighs, gleaming and velvety.
