German Style

Recently,
one of the regular bloggers restarted a slightly heated discussion of differences between Scotland (the land of my birth) and Germany.
He alluded to that item of Scottish National Dress, the Kilt, as being slightly odd.

Lets just look.

Which one do you think looks sillier.

See it doesn't matter what they wear. GIRLS LOOK GOOD

Boys in Lederhosen just look daft.

Boys in Kilts look great.

  1. You may well be right; I couldn't possibly comment. I would point out, however, that the wee furry beastie shown in one of the pictures is, I believe, called in Glasgow a word which is used elsewhere as a diminutive of a common Christian name.

This is true, and a good morning to you Clive. (There are not many people who would use diminutive correctly)

Morning everyone else. Isn't it a lovely day. No school.

  6. I have to agree with Sue, there is just something quite hot about a man in a kilt, I think it is because of that feeling that they are going commando under there

  7. I wear kilts a lot. A German friend of mine would like to make a negative comment about them but he knows better. He knows I will fire back about Lederhosen so he keeps his mouth shut. Thanks for the post.

Speaking as someone who tried it I think not.
Ladies may go undrr a skirt or dress commando and have no ill effects as your "sensitive" bits don't (normally) protrude.
The problem with guys in kilts going commando is that
    1. The kilts are made of quite rough wool.
    2. The sporran (the purse hanging on the front) puts a little pressure on those parts that are better left alone.
    3. Rough wool, plus pressure, plus protruding sensitive bits equals friction burns.

    Ouch

  9. Hi Mike,
thanks for the comment. Are you Scottish or of Scottish descent?

  10. One can only ascend from being Scottish.

    A German snob

It makes it easier for them to 'beat it'

    A very rude German

What? You mean smearing nugget over their genitals and carrying a knife there?

    A surprised German

  13. The problem with going commando is the chaffing - and the inevitable groping by middle-aged women at weddings whose husbands are propping up the bar and totally ignoring me. I mean, THEM.

Have you watched any of the Downfall parodies on youtube? Absolutely brilliant :-)

  14. Thanks Ali,
I can happilly say I've never been groped by a middle aged woman. The closest I got was having my bottom pinched going itno C & A in Sauchihall Street in 1976 (Saturday, April 24 at 11:48)by two young(ish) girls.
    I felt used.

BTW I cannot understand why the german-style post is so popular. My favourite is the one on Courage:

and my report on the Amateur Dramatics:

I looked back on YouTube for the parodies on Downfall. I had forgotten how good some of them were. Thanks for reminding me. I love the one of Hitler ranting at the removal of the parodies. Excellent.
