I mentioned last week that my little blog had received a Liebster award, given to blogs with fewer than 300 followers. I have discovered that one of the responsibilities of the recipients of this small but perfectly formed award is to pass it on to another five deserving bloggers.
So here's my list. (in no particular order) with my reasons for awarding it.
The Curmudgeon. For maintaining a high frequency of posts and an above average grouchiness, and for taking over Richard [of RBB]'s duties while he was away. And failing.
Richards Bass Bag. For services to the blogging community and also for demonstrating a particlular weirdness over and above the call of duty. Also for giving us all a break for this week.
Tired Dad. I think this is one of the funniest and most cynical blogs out there. Well done.
Man of Errors. Erudite, mostly enthusiastic, with just a hint of post-modernist angst. Eleanor was the vital element of soppiness.
Crivens, Jings and Help Ma Blog. Sometimes a little long winded, but well written, with great information on the Lothian coast and spoiled cats.
Well done people.
The duties as a recipient are to display the logo (see my front page for an exemplar)
Create a back link to the person giving the award
Pick five more possible recipients and pass it on.

I've just picked up some books from the library. One is a book I've had on reserve for some weeks, but more on that later.
The actual book I picked up, almost by mistake is "Previous Convictions"by A.A. Gill.

View from our front deck
Lovely day in Silverstream.
Strong sunshine has raised the temperature to about 20°C, and the hills to our South East are glorious.
View from our back deck
Just finished cleaning the barbie and putting it away for the winter that is fast approaching.
Bit of weeding amongst the final year's growth.
Garden is pretty lush at the back of our house
Needs a lot of weeding and some Blood & Bone (Traditional Kiwi fertilizer)
As a final touch, I've de-rusted some metal angels a friend gave us 5 years ago, and re-painted them. I've also painted their feet to look like Hunter's Wellies
Painted Metal Angels (almost a good name for a pop group)
Ahhh. The tranquility of the holidays.

This uncertainty is driving me bonkers.
I really want to know why everyone and his dog is checking out my posts.
I suffer from incurable curiosity.
It's part of my basic makeup.
Like all scientists I want to know why?
Why don't they fall out?
What keeps them in?
Why do I keep looking?

Lazy to a very high value of Lazy
Got up early.
No school tomorrow
Large lunch planned in a new Cambodian restaurant in Petone.
Checked email, contributed to blog comments.
Going back to bed.
*Sigh of blissful contentment*
And just for Basket Maker (who's got a job as a Hobbit in Sir Peter's new film, and tries so hard to bring forth the thespians among our Nuova Lazio kids)

I didn't expect it so quickly, but my blog hit 50,000 views last night. The hits are coming mainly from the UK and USA, and I've given up trying to figure out why the sudden explosion of interest occurred in January and has continued ever since.
Oh well. C'est la Vie.

One of our younger lady teachers practicing for the Lip Sync contest
Last of the dreaded mufti days today, ending with a "Lip-Sync" show/competition by teachers and kids. I was working late in school last night, and caught glimpses of the teachers practicing. They're getting really good.

Autumn is upon us, Winter is around the corner and the teachers are getting tired and ill. Regardless of having the 'flu jabs on Monday, more and more teachers are complaining of headaches, nausea, dizziness, sudden mood changes and a general malaise.

Nuova Lazio High is having a Spirit Week, starting on Wednesday.
Obviously someone got it wrong, it's more like ½ Spirit Week, however, fun though it is being so pedantic (I am a teacher. What did you expect?) there are more serious issues involved.

Now that all is sweetness and light chez TwistedScottishBastard, I settled down to a Sunday of relaxation and routine house maintenance. Doing all those little jobs beloved of blokes, and essential to the smooth running of a family home.

My beloved was unhappy.
My beloved was unhappy with me.
My beloved was unhappy with me for a completely unknown reason which probably contravenes all of the universally accepted laws of cause and effect.

I always used to be a Tea Drinker. All through my childhood, tea was the only available drink in most Scottish homes. (Always made with loose leaf tea in a well warmed pot. One spoonful for each person and one for the pot.) It was mostly drunk with milk and plenty of sugar. The posh would sometimes drink it with a slice of lemon. And plenty of sugar.
