Simple Pleasures

Sitting on my front deck, watching the sky change colour as the sunrise begin

Drinking freshly squeezed orange juice. No, I've not gone all yuppie It just so happened that for some strange and unfathomable reason, nobody in the family ate any of the oranges my Beloved had put in the fruit bowl, and they had all dried up.

I cut them in half and squeezed them, the juice going in the fridge for this mornings treat.

BTW, (Sorry The Curmudgeon, but it's a very useful abbreviation) the colour of the freshly squeezed orange juice is very different form the stuff made from concentrates.  I just wonder if there's some unlisted colours being added at some stage of the process.

I also had a cup of freshly brewed coffee, and a plate of what I think is the almost perfect breakfast.

Freshly toasted crumpets, slathered in butter and smothered in real maple syrup.

If I only had some crispy bacon to add, then it would be perfect.

Enjoy your weekend.

  3. Pinky: It was raining earlier, but clear now.

dbs: Welcome. Totally agree. My Beloved keeps on trying to get me to use "low Fat" spreads, or much worse, that abomination from Flora with the cholesterol absorbtion blocker... it tastes like a rancid motor oil mixed with grease left over from WWII. So butter has become one of my "secret" vices. Hot toast and butter, boiled eggs in a bowl mixed with butter, scrambled eggs have to be made with butter, freshly baked cheese scones with butter. I love thenm all. The only problem is that my slightly ageing digestive system no longer accepts all that I out into it, and I now get horrendous heartburn if my fat intake goes over 5g/hour.

    Cry for me.
